Here are just a handful of benefits salsa provides:

  • Tomatoes are rich in lycopenes which reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, especially cancers of the prostate, lung and bladder
  • Antioxidants found in onions protect against cataracts and cardiovascular disease

Salsa, Guacamole & Bean Dip Recipe

Ingredients:

Layer a shallow dish with guacamole. Spoon on the desired amount of black beans. Sprinkle shredded lettuce or cabbage over the mixture. Top with salsa and serve. Use Unsalted Tortilla Chips for dipping.

Tasty Options:

  • Create a layer of refried beans or mash the black beans and use them as the base layer
  • Add ground beef, shredded chicken or grilled shrimp to make a meal
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese and black olives on top

      Hello, Katie. Meijer carries some of our hot salsas. If you have trouble finding your faves, you can visit our store in Ferndale. We carry our entire line up including Screamnu2019 Hot and Jacku2019s Special Hot. Or you can chop up some fresh hot peppers and throw them in to another variety. I do that with the Mango Peach: a little sweet with a little heat.

    I made chicken enchiladas using the Artichoke & Garlic Salsa — so good and so good for you!  Brown 1 pkg ground chicken with a little garlic & onion, add about 8 oz of salsa (half of a container) and simmer for about 10 mins.  The mixture should be wet but not runny so add more salsa as needed.  Meanwhile, heat an entire 16 oz container of salsa plus the remaining salsa from the meat mixture until bubbly.  Reduce slightly, about 10 mins.  Wrap 10-12 corn tortillas in foil and heat in a 400F oven for about 5 mins to soften.  Wrap meat mixture in warm tortillas and place in a 9×13 pan. I usually spread a little sauce on the bottom of the pan to prevent sticking. Once the enchiladas are all rolled, pour remaining salsa over the top.  Finish with a little shredded jack and bake until golden & bubbly!  Easy, fast and even my kids gobbled them up!
